4 elements
A lake surrounded by volcanos; for me there is no better place to experience the four elements, than Lake Atitlan.
Wether it is the weaving & colouring of cotton or the cooking with beans and maiz, to see the mayan people work with the gifts from earth, can be truly connecting.
A big blue lake, that invites you to take a swim, or challenge you balance on a Stand Up Paddle to connect with the depth of the element water.
Not one, not two, but three volcanos surround and complete the view of lake atitlan. The massive force and fire of natur is pereptible the moment you arrive in Atitlan.
The locals call it ‘el Xocomil’. Every afternoon, the wind builds up over the lake and cleanses the area. This time invites you to take a breath and bring this air into your body.
Where we stay
Lake Atitlan is in the west of Guatemala. It is about 2 hrs distance from the capital. There we will call ‘Casa Floresta’ our home for the retreat. Casa Floresta is a beatiful house at the lake Atitlan. It is only accessible by boat which makes it tranquil and even more magical.
Rooms & Prices
Different people have different needs, especially when it comes to sleep. This is why ‘Casa Foresta’ offers different types of rooms. Look through the offer to find the perfect room for your stay. Please note that the prices are per person.

Half swiss and half chapina, as people from Guatemala call themselves.
I have been teaching yoga for more than 5 years and still every class is teaching me new things as well. My core values are to make yoga inclusive for everybody and to make it fit into your everyday life.
In addition to my 200 hrs teacher training I have a training in Aerial Yoga, Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga.
As I have roots in the country I know the place and the people there. So I can help you with any questions and concerns.

Where to travel
Depending on your time and your plans you can visit the country before or after the retreat. These places are typical and worthy to visit.
Antigua: Only 45 minutes away from the capital. A beautiful town with lots of handcraft stores and culture. From there you can do a lot of excursions.
Atitlan: Where we will stay, of course you can also add a few days on a other part of the lake.
El Paredon: Surfers paradise at the pacific ocean. The place is perfect to relax. And due to the volcanoes the sand is completly black.
Chichicastenango: Every tuesday and thursday there is a huge market there with handcraftet specialities. Also there is one of the biggest cementorys of the country.
Semuc Champey: Where you feel the wonders of nature. In middle of the jungle you can take a bath in the river made pools. Also you can explore caves or climb the hill for a spectacular view.
Rio Dulce & Lake Izabal: Here, people do not use cars, they use boats. You can find lots of waterfalls and take a swim into hot springs. With lots of luck you even spot a manatee, as they are local there.
Flores: The town in the east of Guatemala is located on an island on the lake of peten itzal. The town is known for the colorful houses and the myth says, there is a huge temple under the city in the water. From Flores you can visit the mayan ruins of Tikal and Yaxha,
Livingston: The carribbean coast of Guatemala is home to the Garifunas. The place is interesting from a historical, a cultural and a natural point of view. The area is rather basic, don’t expect luxus.
Belize: If you want white beaches and turquoise water, you can easily visit the neighbour country. There are different islands for different needs. You can fly there from the capital.
About Guatemala
Guatemala is a small country in central america. Its size and diversity makes it a perfect travel destination. Two oceans, rain forest, volcanoes, cities, Lakes and hills: You can find it all.
In Guatemala spanish is the main language. But there are more than 20 other languages spoken there. You can not only find the mayan culture in impressive ancient temples, but also in the everyday life of today.
As the capital is very chaotic due to traffic I recomend to travel directly to the retreat or to Antigua.
How to travel around
In Antigua and at Lake Atitlan (and at all other touristic places) there are a lot of tourist-informations where you can book shuttle buses. These are very reliable travel partners.
As an other option you can rent a car. Just note, that the driving style is different than in switzerland.
Acatenango-Package
One of the country’s highlight is climbing the volcano of Acatenango. From the base camp you can see the brother volcano called Fuego. As Fuego is an activ volcano which errupts several times per day, you have the special opportunity to see the lava. This experience is undescribable.
There are a lot of companies with which you can do this 2-day-hike. But I had the best experience with V-Hike. The company is run by a family of locals who know a lot about the volcano and the country. This is why we make you a special offer:
As a partitioner of the retreat you get a X % discount for V-Hike. We recommend doing the hike the DATUM, so after the descent, you will be brought directly to the retreat.
The retreat is perfect after the hike because the soft movement helps your body to recover while the mind digests the intense experience.
